The Michigan Construction Blog is maintained by Don Blevins, a construction attorney and litigator with the law firm of McAlpine & Associates in Auburn Hills, Michigan.  We hope that the information appearing here will prove useful to our clients, colleagues, and community.

We of course cannot – and we do not – offer legal advice here.  Instead, we hope to share with our readers information and observations based on more than twenty years of experience at the forefront of this challenging and often litigious world of construction.  We value your constructive comments and criticisms.  It is inevitable that the quality of this site will improve through user input.

The title of this Blog begins with “Michigan,” which is where our office is located.  But we do not limit our coverage to matters specific to that state.  Indeed, a large percentage of our practice involves clients and projects throughout the United States.  From New York to Florida to California, we have successfully handled countless high-stakes and complex disputes for clients based in Michigan and elsewhere.

Few construction contractors entered the business because they enjoy dealing with mountains of contracts, claims, and court pleadings.  Unfortunately, legal paperwork and litigation tend to comprise a significant part of an active contractor’s life.  Until that changes, we stand ready to help our clients understand and negotiate even the most difficult legal challenges so that they can continue building great things.
